疑うこと、信じること
疑うことは、誰にでも備わった能力です。
「疑う」の語源は、数字の「弐」で、
右か左か、正しいか間違っているか、
このように二極化して、物事をとらえることを意味します。
なんでも、とりあえず疑っておけば、安全は守られるわけです。
信じる。これは練習をして身に着けることのできる能力です。
疑うことは、誰にでもできます。でも信じるのは難しい。
携帯電話を持つようになると、
誰かと待ち合わせをしていて、ちょっとでも遅れると、
お互いに電話して安心させあう。
これだと、信じる力は育たない。
「来る」のを待つ。その間のさまざまな思い、感情。
それらを経験することなく、信じる力など育たないのです。
「待つ」。
その間の「もしかしたら」「もし」との葛藤を通して、信じる力は養われます。
その信じる力は、真の楽観性にもつながっているように思います。
